We Help People Build Healthier Relationships With Money

Started in early 2020, followmsg grew from a simple idea: most people don't need complicated financial jargon. They need straightforward guidance on creating budgets that actually work for their lives.

What Drives Our Teaching Approach

We've spent years watching people struggle with budgets that look perfect on paper but fall apart in real life. The problem isn't discipline. It's usually that the system doesn't fit the person.

  • Real-World Context Matters

We teach budget strategies that account for irregular income, family dynamics, and the actual way people spend money—not idealized versions.

  • Progress Over Perfection

Small improvements compound over time. We focus on sustainable changes rather than dramatic overhauls that rarely stick.

  • Honest About Limitations

Budget strategy helps with planning and tracking. It doesn't solve underlying income problems or replace professional financial advice for complex situations.

How We Structure Learning

Budget education works best when it's practical from day one. Our programs combine foundational concepts with immediate application—you'll leave each session with something you can use that week.

Hands-On Exercises

Work with your own financial data during sessions. We provide frameworks, you apply them to your situation.

Group Discussion Format

Small cohorts allow for questions and shared experiences. Many participants find peer insights as valuable as instructor guidance.

Follow-Up Support

Optional monthly check-ins available for six months after program completion to help with adjustments as life circumstances change.

Our Story

Five Years of Budget Education

What started as informal workshops for friends has grown into structured programs serving hundreds of people annually.

2020

Foundation Year

Launched initial budget strategy workshops in Kota Bharu. First cohort included 12 participants—mostly friends and colleagues testing our approach. Learned more from their feedback than we taught.

2022

Curriculum Development

Formalized program structure based on two years of workshop iterations. Added specialized tracks for irregular income situations and family budget coordination. Started offering online sessions alongside in-person classes.

2024

Program Expansion

Introduced follow-up support system after noticing many students struggled with implementation three months post-program. Added quarterly refresher sessions and optional one-on-one consultations.

2025

Current Focus

Refining our approach based on evolving economic conditions in Malaysia. Developing new materials addressing digital payment systems and their impact on budget awareness. Planning autumn 2025 program sessions.

Budget strategy isn't about restriction. It's about making intentional choices with your money so you can focus on what actually matters to you.
